Thirsty Thursday

I cannot believe it's Thursday already! This week has been very busy. Unfortunately I have not worked out like I wanted to. I'm finally coming to the realization that I can't really do anything until my foot is completely healed. We had a few spring like days this week and they really reminded me how badly I want to be able to run come full time spring weather, so this girl is taking recovery serious starting this week! I bought some new inserts, and I plan to buy the $50 Dr. Scholls inserts where you stand on that machine and it tells you exactly what you need. I've been doing massages every morning and every night with a frozen water bottle. And I've been doing a lot more exercises and stretches with my foot. So here's to a quick recovery!!!

We haven't posted at all this week. Ugh. So I wanna recap on my weekend/week. I spent Saturday with friends and puppies for Lona's Birthday!!! It was her 1 year adoption birthday. I know people think I'm weird or dog crazy, but Lona was definitely game changer for this girl right here. I was dating someone that I probably shouldn't have been dating and I was on the rebound and just really lonely. He was a really great guy so it made it even harder to end things between us, but when I got Lona-I finally got the courage to be on my own. I even made a cake. The dogs loved it!

Food Time
I made some pasta this week. Just some whole wheat penne with ground turkey and Sugar Free pasta sauce. I packaged it all up for easy lunches to grab. CONVENIENT!

I also made some taco dip. Weight Watcher approved! 1.5 points per serving. I eat mine with Fat Free Pringles which are only 1 point for every 15 chips.

I already had an amazing Salad. Spinach with some shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, feta cheese, and some carrots.

Sunday, Jon and I started a three hour drive to Elryia, OH to hear my daddy preach! I was dead until we got to Starbucks. YUM! I hadn't eaten breakfast so I got their reduced fat blueberry muffin with my Grande Ice Coffee-2 Splenda with Cream.

We also made a SECOND Starbucks stop. Hahahaha. We were bouncing off the walls singing, dancing, and playing swords with paint sticks we found in the truck.I also got another little snack. Instead of a candy bar or something not so good for this girls hips-I opted for some pickled eggs. Lots of protein and very delicious.

Found a cute new outfit I paired together. Lovin the coral! I had to wear my glasses all weekend because I got a small piece of glass in my eye. Luckily, I got it out on our way to the ER. EEK! I hate hospitals.

Happy Thirsty Thursday Everyone!!!

Tip of today: Drop the calorie filled drinks, today and grab a water instead!

Just Keep Spinning, Just Keep Spinning, Spinning...

That is EXACTLY what I was saying to myself during my hour long first experience of spinning. I bicycle in the summer time so it wasn't too far off from what I was expecting. It was a great workout-that is for sure. We went from a flat spin, to a sprint, to a climb (Lots of resistance or rogue as they call it), to a jog which where you stand up on your bike, to a run where you lean forward while standing and really pick up your pace, and back down to a flat spin. We did a sequence of this all the way to our peak at a running climb-ROUGH! Than we started going back down to a cool down and some isolation exercises.

I was extremely worried about my foot and how it would feel after we got done. Much to my surprise, my foot feels great! It really stretched it out but didn't put any major stress on it. My whole body is definitely feeling it today, especially my bottom.

Tonight I have my first Pilates class and tomorrow is weigh in! Eek! Nervous. It's been a crazy week (My diet week starts on Wednesdays so a little different). Also, the blog is under construction right now so excuse the mess! P.S. Where the heck is Lindsay? I'm wondering the same thing!

Another week is here, and I started mine with a 5:30 a.m. workout. It felt great to wake up and get my week started off on the right foot. I'm still rehabbing my foot since it has failed my once again. It's a very busy week for this girl.

Jon and I headed to my hometown this weekend to visit my family. Check out this little angel wannabe :)

She is too precious.
Nothing like Aunt/Niece Love

So anyway, this weekend was awesome. Now back to work! I start some new classes this week at the Y. This morning I pool ran for 30 minutes. Tonight I have my first Pilates class ever! Kind of excited/nervous. I will definitely suck at it for awhile, but hopefully it gets better. Tomorrow I have my first cycling class. So it is a week of new things for me.
We are also celebrating Lona's 1 year adoption birthday this week.
I'll be trying this Dog Cake recipe for her special day and doing some doggy bags :) Get it? Hahaha. Okay, sorry. Cheesy.

And I finally got around to snapping a pic of my pebble weight loss jars!

Good luck this Monday guys! Remember your 2012 Resolutions!

Fit & Trim Fridays-Coffee Time

Happy Friday :)

Made it through another week of NY Resolution progress.

Last night was girls night for myself and my lovely lady friends. We indulged in salad, lasagna, bread, and brownies & cupcakes. To curb my point/calorie intake, I opted for an extra large salad topped with some Feta cheese and croutons. I dipped my fork in some ranch also. I skipped the lasagna and bread and went for the brownies instead! Good choice in my opinion. Powdered sugar brownies are one of my many weaknesses so I couldn't resist those. It was a fun evening with the ladies and hopefully to be followed by many more.

Today, Jon and I are heading to Mansfield to visit my parents. Ready for some fun, fabulous memories to be made this weekend. I will have to be on guard though since going home always presents a struggle to stay on my diet. I brought my running shoes so I can either walk or give the new elliptical another try (Last time I tried, I only made it 10 minutes. Kudos to my momma for doing 75 minutes a day on that monsterous machine!)

Low calorie Ice Coffee
Starbucks Blonde-Made last night and put in fridge. Added 3 tablespoons of FF Creamer + 2 packets of Stevia. YUM.

New Haircut
I like it, but time to start growing it back out :)

H20
Ready to hydrate today!

1-2-3-4

After my recent decision to go back to Weight Watchers (The old version-Momentum program), I lost not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 pounds. I could not be happier. It was exactly the jump start I needed to get me going again. It took 2 months, but o well! I've been pool running a lot lately. We use these nifty belts that help you float and literally just mimic running without putting any weight on your joints which helps a lot when you have Plantaar. Grrrr. It really does suck!  I have tons to post about now that I'm back on the Momentum program. New grocery lists, new eating habits, new tricks of the trade-all things to chat about with you.

Facing Friend Time
Dealing with this a lot this week. Tuesday was my friend Ben's Birthday and a group of us went to Cheesecake Factory. EEK for my diet. First plan of action-check out the menu before getting there. This was a challenge since The CC Factory doesn't really tell anybody. THey do have a Skinnylicious menu that you can view here. I opted for the Lettuce Wrap Chicken Tacos Mexican Style. Jon got the same thing plus a Mexican style salad that I ate some of also. I did grab a few pieces of bread pre-meal I was so hungry. I also wanted cheesecake so my options were deny myself (which never sounds good), indulge myself (which doesn't sound good either after losing a few pounds), or order the Cheesecake made with Splenda for a lower calorie option. I went with the latter----obviously. :) I really felt like I splurged but when I weight myself this morning-I had still lost another pound since weighing myself Sunday.

This is one of the definite perks of WW Momentum program. You can eat and be realistic with a diet/life style change because the program gives you room to breathe. I might also add I enjoyed a Skinny White Peppermint Mocha before dinner. Jon always wants coffee :)

Also Check out my cute new dress from PacSun along with my Rose gold watch with new bracelets. All for under $20 :) I love bargains!

I love the Cleveland Indians!

Grady <3

Tonight is Girls Night at my neighbor, Megs apt. So I have a challenge ahead of me---Lasagna, Bread, and Cupcakes to portion out! Wish my luck...

Getting off on the Right Foot

So after Lindsay and I's last few posts about struggling-I am having a crazy great start off day. Valentine's Day was great until after dinner when I mentioned ice cream. After I realized that we had to get in the cold car to go get ice cream-I said nevermind. But as I have already chatted about, Jon is not on board with me yet so he REALLY wanted ice cream so I caved. Than I said-let's share a pint. Jon wanted his own though. So I caved again.

This morning is my first official day back to working out since I hurt my foot. New insoles and some ice the past few days have made me feel like I'm ready to get back to it! It feels good to be back on the old Weight Watchers Program. I'm familiar with it and it always helps to have faith in a system. This is the only way I have ever loss mass amounts of weight so I don't need to really talk myself into believing that it works cause I've already experienced the success. At my current weight, I get 23 points a day. You learn to find tricks of the diet. Like meals that are only a few points! Special K Cereal is kind of my newest secret to the diet. Protein Plus is only 1 point per 3/4 of a cup. I was eating a bag of this cereal dry for breakfast anyway so it was an easy transition. I looked into the other cereals and they are all around 1-3 points per serving. Great snacks and quick ways to fill up with good nutrition. I'm already stocked up on several different kinds.

I went on a 30 minute brisk walk with Lona just to try to start working my foot. I iced it for about 30 minutes last night. I've been reading up on plantaar and it just isn't looking good for me. It's very frustrating but I'm going to switch things up so I can continue to work out while doing WW-Momentum style (the old program).

I wanted to share some pics of my vacation in Texas. Notice our new Mavericks shirts :) I loved Texas. Everything is new and HUGE.

Practice Makes Perfect, Right?

So, I went on vacation for a few days to Texas with my boyfriend and let's just say that I fell off. I fell off the bandwagon. Jon has been on vacation for almost 2 weeks now and he has COMPLETELY fallen off the wagon which didn't make it too hard for me to do the same. My foot issues have also not helped. I've found some remedies to take care of the plantar fasciitis but still very nervous to run. Tomorrow I start back up though. NO FEAR!
I'm also starting Weight Watchers again. This time I will be following the old program. I just haven't been able to really get into a groove and so trying the old WW seems to be the best route since this is really the only thing that has worked for me in the past. I will be making some changes to what I did with WW a few years back, but sticking with most of it. Last time I did it-I didn't exercise at all. This time exercise will be a huge part of my day still.

I have a new tool that will hopefully help me-Blackberry Playbook. I bought Jon one also. I'm hoping it will help us encourage each other more through running apps and My Fitness Pal.
I also went ahead and made on of the pebble weight loss jars. For each pound you lose-you move it to the other jar. I figured this would be a great visual for myself every morning. I found this on pinterest!

GOOD LUCK this week & keep pushing forward to our goals for 2012 :)

Take it Easy!

Ok, so this week I may have done some over training. I ended up straining a muscle in my left foot. OUCH! It does not feel good. This did not stop me from working out though! It just forced me to change some things up. Putting pressure on my foot causes a lot of pain so I was limited in my choices. I chose to use the stationary bike at the YMCA. Biking allowed me to burn some calories while keeping weight off my foot. It also helped stretch my foot out. I took a book, some magazines, my ipod, & my cell phone to keep me company as I embarked on my 14 mile ride. It felt good but it really sucks to not be able to run! It's become very addicting this week. I ordered some insoles from Amazon today and I'm also going to look into an arch support.

REMINDER: Take care of yourself and treat injuries immediately.

Now for some Fab & Fit Friday tips-
1. Eat more veggies. This girl is opting for some extreme Spinach lately. I got a HUGE carton of it for $2.99 on Manager Special at Kroger. I made a salad for dinner last night which had plenty of spinach, cubed avocado, mushrooms, and fat free croutons. I topped it with 1 tbs of Light Ranch Dressing & a sprinkle of shredded cheese. I'm having the same for lunch today but with some Tyson Grilled Chicken Breast Chunks. Delish!

2. Allow yourself some space to breath, but know yourself. I've had a pretty blah week. Work has been busy, fighting off a cold, Jon is gone on vacation, and now my foot. So to treat myself, I decided to get some ice cream. I wanted Hagaan Dazs ice cream but I knew if I got the big carton, I would eat the entire thing. So instead, I opted for the mini ice creams that literally fit in the palm of your hand. I got Coffee & Peanut Butter Chocolate. I treated myself to one last night and I was still under my daily calorie intake thanks to my 14 mile bike ride!

3. Get a support system. Having Lindsay to chat with every few days has helped a lot! It's kind of like a mini competition slash support system we have going on. My friend Ande is also a huge help. We have been friends for 6+ years and have shared our weight struggles the whole way. Myfitnesspal is a great way to do this!

That is all for today fellow weight loss friends. Good luck this weekend! Enjoy the weather & be strong :) Remember---2012 Will Be Our Year!

Going the Distance

Happy Wednesday!

I cannot believe we are half way through the week already. My week is going amazing. I got a little distracted by past issues but working out has been my outlet. Last night I ran 32 minutes straight! I was really proud of myself! I didn't think I could run for 30 minutes straight but I did it thanks to Lona, some stress to work off, & one of my lovely friends-Jillian.

Today was another crazy day. I've been fighting off sickness so lots of vitamin C. I ended up grabbing a footlong sub. Now I love tuna, but Subways tuna is super fattening because of all the mayo. I found a great solution to my issue. I got a footlong and only half the tuna on it. I loaded it with veggies and some salt & pepper. When I got back to my office, I opened up my sandwich and scrapped even more tuna off! It was basically a veggie sub topped with a thin line of tuna. It was amazing & only $5.

I ended my day today with over an hour of Zumba. It was awesome! Great songs and lots of sweat. When I got home, I grabbed Lona and met my friend outside. I figured we would run a quick mile but we ended up going 2.7 miles! 30 minutes again. I am feeling great. I was under my calorie intake for the day because of all my workouts but when I checked, I wasn't too under that it was unhealthy. So all & all---A GREAT DAY!

Moral of the Story
Turn your stress & worries into calorie burning motivation!

Party in a Blizzard

To go along with Lindsay's post from Monday-YES! Now is the time when we all start to slack off in our super awesome goals we set for ourselves. And my title really has nothing to do with this post except that this is my least favorite song at Zumba but it seems to be everyone else's favorite. Go figure.

MY WEAKNESS
1. Jon is off the bandwagon. There is nothing worse for a girl than having a boyfriend or husband who is eating Triple Baconators & scarfing down cookies. What is even worse is when he leaves to go to Florida and you chose not to go and you know he is dipping freshly caught lobster in a huge bowl of melted butter. AH! My favorite.

2. The weather STINKS! I cannot stand running indoors anymore. After a summer of running around the lake, I just can't do it. My mind torchers me the entire time! Party in a blizzard?

3. A sister that won't wake up for Zumba. I did try 3 times to find a place to Zumba over the weekend, but Friday night we got lost. And Saturday morning---you try waking up a tired Lindsay. NOT FUN!

4. Visiting family & friends during Valentine's Day Season. Uh---OF COURSE I'm going to get the Little Debbie Cakes. OMG. They are the best. Seriously....the absolute best.

5. Free food. I always struggle when I go home because my parents like to treat all of us to dinner every night so of course I'm thinking get as much as you can! It's easier to say no when you're paying for it youself, ya know?

WAYS TO GET PAST THE MOMENTS OF WEAKNESS
1. Get the man into your routine. Jon has promised to start working out with me when he gets back from Florida. I do understand this so I am just waiting for him to get back so we can get it started!

2. If you can't enjoy your exercise because of the weather--find another option! I've really taken to Zumba in this dreary cold weather. It's awesome! Try it out!

3. It's okay to take a break from everything, but make sure this doesn't mean you are done completely.

4. Eat one Little Debbie Cake. Than walk away! Drink some water & go for a walk.

5. Even though it's free food, take this opportunity to get something healthy and delicious. Saturday, we went to Mimi's Cafe. I opted for a side of veggies and a huge salad! It was delicious. I treated myself to a Raisin Carrot Muffin there also-they are amazing.

MY STRENGTH

1. My mom is a beast right now. She has lost some weight and is going strong. When she gets motivated, there is no stopping her. I went on her elliptical for maybe 10 minutes and was DYING. She was on for 45 minutes. I wanted to die. But good for her.

2. Zumba. Every time I go to Zumba I find new motivation. I did 70 minutes of Zumba last night and when I got home I grabbed Lo & went for a 15 minute run without stopping which was 1.4 miles. So I was running a 10 minute mile pace which I'm okay with for now.

3. WEATHER! Last night I wore sandals! Today is supposed to be 60 so I will be running outside again! Hopefully for 30 minutes. Keep this weather coming!

4. Being home. I am in a routine now so when I go home or get out of that routine-I struggle. So just being back home is really helping me stay on track.

5. SELF-MOTIVATION!!! This is the most important. I just keep looking at old pictures and things on Pinterest to keep me going.

Short & Sweet

I was planning on writing a nice post about what my weekend was filled with-Workouts, Zumba, friends & family---and stress, but unfortunately fortunately I have found a new sense of motivation in the last few hours. I cannot speak about what is motivating me as of right now, but let's just say women----you would absolutely relate. Maybe I will expound upon this newly found motivation in the future. But for now-I need to rest up because I will be up at 5 a.m. to run 2 miles. So no nice post from me tonight. I am just a ball full of stress and motivation. So goodnight all. Have any of you found new motivation to meet your fitness goals lately?

Tricks of My Trade

Ok so for today I wanted to give some of my personal info like zumba instructor, workouts, eating plans, playlists, etc. YAY! Okay so all of these are crucial. Let me just give you some of my must's.

For Christmas, I accumulated new weights, heart rate monitor/watch, new running tights, Nike running headband & matching gloves. I now have 1 pound weights-for Zumba, 5 pound weights, 8 pound weights, & one 10 pound weight. I also bought myself an Ipod shuffle specifically for running and working. I really needed this especially after losing my Itouch. These have all helped me with my new journey towards being Fit & Fabulous!

I have started doing Zumba Mondays & Fridays in Chillicothe on my way home. The instructor is fabulous! Her name is Deb Adkins. If you are in the area and looking for a good Zumba class, try her out. You can find any Zumba class near you by going to this link ZUMBA. Try it. I will also be going to a class locally at a studio called Charmion. You can find them HERE.

I also use an amazing website to download semi free music. Rock My Run is now expanding, but because I joined before their expansion-they gave me ten free credits. You get 1 free credit a month and each mix they make is 1,2,3,4 credits depending on the length. They are awesome mixes. They give you some extra motivation at the beginning and also how many BPM (beats per minute) so you can match your run with your mix.
I know I already talked about it on Monday, but Lindsay and I started using My Fitness Pal. It's been so awesome & helpful this week. I like to get onto my account every morning and build my day. I start off with my morning coffee & whatever I grab for breakfast on my way out the door. I add everything I have packed for the day which usually consists of a few snacks and a good meal. I also try to think what my evening is going to look like and add in my dinner, pre-workout snack, post workout snack, etc. This helps me see where I can splurge during my day.

OK-one last thing. I just registered for another 5k along the Scioto River for May 12. It's $25 but it goes towards an amazing cause. Please check out this site and help this little boy-Nathan's cause!!! REGISTER & HELP NATHAN

ZUMBA

So last Thursday, my friend and I went to a zumba class in Circleville. It was a lot of fun! I forgot how much I loved it :) So I found my card that I purchased over a year ago and found out I still have 8 classes left that I can use in Chillicothe. So I will be zumba'ing today instead of my usual yoga. I will post what my new weekly workout is going to look like. I've added the zumba Mondays & Thursdays. I also found a new "Running for Weight Loss" Program at Women's Health. I will also be starting that this week! It is for beginners and after six weeks-I should be able to run for 30 minutes straight! How wonderful. I cannot wait. I also do strength training three days a week. Legs, Chest & Back, and Arms & Shoulders-these are my three days of weight training. I haven't lost any weight yet,but I am feeling much better about myself and my body feels great!

One of my biggest issues with getting fit is balance. I either eat really great and don't exercise or vice versa. So while I have been working out a lot and eating healthy foods, I have not been doing the greatest with portion control. I started using MyFitnessPal. You can check it out HERE. Lindsay & I both joined and became friends! So now we can follow each others progress and keep each other in line. AWESOME! I need it. Linds is doing great but I won't tell all. I'll let her tell everyone in her post tomorrow! Anyway, it's awesome! I gave the website my goals and they let me know what calories, carbs, fat, and protein I needed to intake on a daily basis. They said if I follow this-I will lose ten pounds by February 20th! Let's see how this goes!!! Cannot wait :) Ok-Time to go put on my new yoga pants from F21. $8.80. AWESOME!

C-R-A-Z-Y

Work has c-r-A-z-y. So anywho-Monday was my yoga day which I did not do since I did not do my long run on Sunday. Seriously-I've been slacking in my workouts, but doing good with eating. This all changed last night. I got home late since I finally got the oil change I'd been putting off for over a month now. Disaster struck when 4 p.m. hit and my stomach starting growling with hunger. I had to go somewhere I could walk since my car was gone. My options were Penn Station, Little Ceasars, Burger King, and Steak & Shake. I know pizza isn't the best option and also S & S. I learned that after being on Weight Watchers and finding out my child size milkshake was 20 out of my 29 daily point allowance. AH! I opted for Penn Station since they are a sub like place. Turns out not the healthiest of subs, but I made the best of it. I got a kids meal size grilled veggie sandwich. Now after I paid I realized the meal came with fries...AWESOME. I had a tough choice ahead of me. Luckily-Pinterest had already challenged me with an inspiring fact of life: It only takes 21 days before doing something constantly. Just think: 21 days without binging, can become a lifetime. 21 days of going to the gym will make you not even think twice about going anymore. 21 days of saying 'no, thank you' to sugary treats. All it takes is 21 days. Why not start now?

So I said no to the fries! I threw them away immediately so I wouldn't continue to be tempted. I felt super great after I threw them away. I finally got home and was so tired-I just wanted to take a shower and hop into bed for some R&R. Instead, I asked my friend to come run with me and the pups! Jillian took Lona and I took Cash. We ran about 2 miles. Check out our route on Mapmyride.com. It felt great! Than I was feeling even better so I headed to the gym and did my arm workout! Finally, I ate some of my Black Bean Salad topped with some avocado :) Delicious! Just in time for some R&R with the lovely boyfriend, Jon and some Revenge-Our fav tv show!

As for today...I forgot my lunch. Grrr. So I will be running to kroger for a lean cuisine or something quick!

2012 Will Be My Year

"2012 Will Be My Year" was definitely my motto going into this. In order to insure that all my binging and holiday treats were taken care of, Lindsay and I spent the entire weekend eating our favorite pizza and desserts and drinking little to no water. Well my side/hip flexor area started hurting Saturday evening and the pain has yet to stop. So I'm taking my workouts a tab bit easier this week until the pain goes away or if it doesn't go away-this girl will be at the doctor's office. Cysts, hernias, and kidney infections-these are the thoughts being tossed around by those I've shared the information about. I don't really want to deal with any of the above, but we shall see.

In order to prep for this year, I stocked my fridge with some goodies & am still searching for some new recipes. I've gotten great recipes and ideas and motivation for Pinterest. If you don't have an account-GET ONE! I got Lindsay addicted :) You will never be the same!

Last night I did the elliptical just to make sure I was doing something even with the abdominal pain. Here is a look at what my typical week will look like though---

WEEKLY WORKOUT TO DO

Monday

Yoga

Tuesday

Legs
1 Mile Run

Wednesday

Back & Chest
Elliptical

Thursday

Arms & Shoulders
1 Mile Run

Friday

DAY OFF!!!

Saturday

Elliptical/Swim

Sunday

Long Run
Stretch

I plan on printing this and adding some cute scrapbook paper and putting it in a frame and hanging it next to the mirror and scale. That way daily-I can cross off what I did with a dry erase marker and erase it at the end of the week and start over---via pinterest. Love that site!

I'm also taking this challenge.

For lunch today, I opted for half a can of Healthy Request Tomato soup made with skim milk. I paired my soup with a grilled cheese sandwich made with 35 Calorie Wheat Bread & Fat Free Cheddar Cheese. I also went for coffee with a friend & made the WISE decision of a SMALL ice coffee with cream and one splenda. Probably the lowest calorie and lowest fat item I could have chosen besides just black coffee, and I cannot do that. I've gone on SEVERAL walks with the pups & will be heading to the gym in a few minutes for some strength training and some more elliptical. I hope to start running as soon as I get the injury figured out! Eek!

INSPIRATION FOR THE DAY
